We're not a band (yet - we are SO open to hearing from anyone who wants to write us a theme song!).
We chose ‘The Climatics’ because the name sounds like a band, and that's exactly the energy we want. Climate action shouldn't feel like homework or a guilt trip, we reckon it should feel more like showing up to something you actually want to be part of.
The band metaphor totally works. Everyone plays a different role, and we're all essential to making something bigger than any of us could create alone. Whether you're a Roadie or a Producer, front person or backing vocals, rhythm or melody, you're part of the collective making the sound.
Plus, ‘party not homework’ is totally our whole vibe.
For 2026 funding rounds, we have a light-touch Expression of Interest (EOI) process alongside our proactive outreach. We're intentionally keeping it simple because we don't want organisations spending hours on uncertain funding applications when they could be doing their essential climate work.
We review applications and identify organisations doing systems-change work across our four funding pillars. Then our curation team makes the final selection.
If you’re a climate organisation working on systems change in Aotearoa, you can learn more about eligibility and how to express interest.
We work with a Curation Team who bring deep knowledge across climate science, indigenous wisdom, business, community, government, and philanthropy. They review organisations and identify those doing systems-change work across our four funding pillars.

Everyone who contributes to The Climatics becomes part of our community and gets access to webinars, events, and newsletters where we share updates from grantees, climate learnings, and what's happening in the movement.
We're building this as a community, not a transaction. Your engagement matters.
We welcome contributions at any level! What matters most is finding an amount that feels workable for you. Climate action is a marathon, not a sprint, and we're building for the long haul.
One-off donations are welcome at any amount. Every contribution over $5 is tax-deductible and 100% goes directly to expert-vetted climate organisations.
We've also created different band roles to make it easy to find your place in the collective:
- Roadie ($250/year or $65 quarterly) - Essential behind-the-scenes support
- Rhythm Section ($1,000/year or $250 quarterly) - The steady groove that keeps us moving
- Band Member ($2,500/year or $625 quarterly) - Core commitment that amplifies our impact
- Producer ($5,000+/year or $1,250 quarterly) - help us shape the direction of the Climatics and learn alongside us.

Absolutely! We value time, talent, ties, testimony and treasure, so we welcome you to get in touch to see where we can collaborate. You can also help by connecting us with potential donors, grantees, or advisors. Finally, spreading awareness about our work and our grantees creates valuable impact even without financial contribution.
Yes. Every donation over $5 is tax-deductible.
We're aiming for two grant rounds per year of $100,000 each, directing $200,000 annually to organisations doing systems-change work across Aotearoa.
Our first round happened in December 2025. We're currently building community and gearing up for distributing our second rounds in June and November 2026.
Want to be part of it? Join anytime. Our community contributions pool together until the next funding round, and you'll be updated on grantee selection as we get closer.
In 2025, 73 donors joined our community and we raised $104,168. This exceeded our $100,000 goal. We funded three organisations doing systems-change work across Aotearoa:
- Te Weu Tairāwhiti - Māori-led climate adaptation in the East Coast
- Lawyers for Climate Action NZ - Policy transformation and legal advocacy
- All Aboard Aotearoa - Transport system change
The pilot showed that this model works. Now we're scaling up.

Absolutely. You're in control of your contribution. If your circumstances change or you need to adjust your donation level, just get in touch and we'll sort it out. No questions asked, no guilt trips.
Climate action needs to work for your life, not the other way around.
For now, we're keeping it simple and focusing on established organisations doing systems-change work. We agree that supporting emerging ideas and individual changemakers is important too, and it's something we may be able to explore as we grow and learn what works.
100%. Every dollar you contribute flows directly to climate organisations doing the mahi.
Our operational costs such as due diligence, curation, donor relations, and all the behind-the-scenes work, are covered by strategic partners who believe in this model. So your money does exactly what you want it to do.
The only thing we can’t cover are credit card fees so making contributions via bank transfer helps your dollars go even further.
If you have an organisation you're passionate about, we absolutely encourage direct donations to them!
We add value for people who want to support climate action but don't have the time or capacity to research which organisations are doing systems-change work. Our Climatics team and expert Curation Team does the due diligence, and our collective approach means smaller donations can contribute to larger, higher-impact funding.
We're basically your climate investment advisor. We’ll do the research so you can give with confidence.
Not at all. The climate challenge requires diverse approaches and there's excellent work happening across the sector.
We've identified specific focus areas that are elevating the story, building movement cohesion, transforming politics, and supporting Māori-led action. We believe these areas need amplification right now. We're filling particular gaps and strengthening the overall ecosystem, not claiming to be the ultimate authority on climate effectiveness.
A rising tide lifts all boats. By supporting strategic initiatives in our focus areas, we aim to strengthen the entire climate movement.
Our four pillars emerged from identifying critical gaps where strategic philanthropic funding could create outsized impact.
Elevate the story: Compelling climate narratives using trusted voices and strategic communications can cut through political noise, counter mis- and dis-information, and inspire genuine public engagement.
Build the movement: The climate movement in Aotearoa needs strengthening across communities, sectors, and demographics.
Transform politics: Lasting climate action requires moving beyond short-term partisan debates to build broad, durable support for bold, long-term solutions.
Support Māori-led action: Māori possess generations of environmental knowledge and proven solutions, yet historically have faced significant barriers to accessing funding. Supporting Indigenous leadership isn't just about equity; it's about backing the most effective, culturally-grounded approaches to environmental stewardship.
These four interconnected strategies help accelerate the systemic changes needed while honouring Aotearoa's unique cultural landscape. This is about building a more just, sustainable future rooted in both innovation and ancestral wisdom, not simply just reducing emissions.
