Our setlist so far has featured two successful fundraising rounds, seven climate organisations funded, 87 people who backed them, $185,000 raised together. It’s been a legendary gig and told us exactly what we hoped it would: brilliant climate work is everywhere in Aotearoa, and when you make giving easy and joyful, people turn up for it.
It wasn't a flawless run every night, though. Round two brought in fewer donors than round one, and the world outside kept getting louder and harder to predict. That was one of the things that tipped the scales toward closing well in September 2026, rather than pushing for a third tour that might play to a smaller crowd.
We know the planet, and every one of our grantees, would happily call us back for an encore. The fact is that honouring The Climatics and growing it in the way it deserves, needs a bigger crew behind it than the two of us running sound and lights… and tickets, merch, driving the van... We've crunched the numbers every which way, weighed every option, and we keep landing in the same spot: we’re better to close the show while the crowd's still on its feet, with time to do proper reporting and give real thanks.
Grantee reporting carries on, so this isn’t the last you’ll hear from us. We’ll be honouring what this community, our donors and grantees have built together, and passing on what we've learned along the way so it's useful to whoever picks up the instruments next.
You are the reason there was ever a show to put on. Every donation, big or small, first-timer or repeat, was a vote for the idea that everyday New Zealanders could pool their money and back the kind of climate work that helps move the whole system forward.
You turned up for two rounds and brought along friends, family and colleagues. You gave when things were uncertain and when the news cycle made it easier to look away instead. Thank you for backing this band from the very first gig.
You are the music. Everything else was just the stage we built so more people could hear you. Watching what you’re doing with this funding has been the best part of running this.

If you've been on the fence about backing climate work in Aotearoa, your dollar today does more than the same dollar will in a few years' time. When it comes to climate, time is of the essence and momentum compounds. Early funding lets organisations plan, hire, and build instead of scrambling season to season, and every year that funding is delayed is a year of runway these groups don't get back. What’s more, unrestricted funding is the oxygen that the sector needs right now to be agile and responsive in this fast changing context.
We hope two rounds of The Climatics has helped shine a light on how much brilliant, under-resourced climate work is already happening here. It's extraordinary what these organisations do with what little they have. Please fund it, and please don't wait for the ‘ideal’ moment to do so.
Thank you to everyone who forwarded an email, shared a post, or mentioned us at a dinner party. You were the road crew, and no tour runs without one. Even if all you ever did was hum along from the crowd, that all helped more people find out this kind of giving exists at all.
Behind the figures on that list are everyday New Zealanders who decided this was important work and decided to act. Boom, that’s the whole model, right there.
Reporting on our grantees continues until July 2027, so you'll still be hearing from us, just with less fanfare and zero fundraising. The band that plays after the main show springs to mind. We may be quieter, but still worth a listen.
